Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side marker light on this 2002 Volvo V70. Tools you'll need if you have to do the whole project: new side marker light from 1AAuto.com, drill with quarter-inch drill bit, hammer, punch, rivet gun.

Most likely, your side marker light has been damaged, so you will be able to skip the part where you have to drill the rivets and instead use some force (either some pliers or a screwdriver) to pry the old light out and then put the new light from 1A Auto in.

If you're just looking to service the bulb, and you need to get the light out, and there's no damage to the light itself, you'll need to remove these three rivets. You remove them by drilling the center with your drill and quarter-inch drill bit. On the back of the light, there's two tabs that you have to push in and then push the light out. Reach in behind your inner fender, push those tabs, and the light pushes out. Then push the tab on the harness and disconnect it.

To service the light, you just twist out the socket, pull the bulb out, push your new bulb in, and twist the socket back into place. On the left is the old side marker light; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they're going to fit exactly the same. Reconnect the harness to your new side marker light, and then just push the light back into place.

Using a hammer and a punch, just punch out those rivets. If you did remove the rivets from your wheel well, re-secure them. Here, we're showing you a rivet and rivet gun. You could also use coarse-thread bolts in the place of the rivets.
