Created on: 2013-12-30

This video will show the steps for draining and refilling the oil to help you do it yourself

  1. step 1 :Drain the old motor oil
    • Raise and secure the vehicle.
    • Use a 14 mm socket and ratchet to remove your drain plug.
    • Have a catch pan ready.
    • When the oil has stopped flowing out of the oil pan, replace the drain plug and use a fresh crush washer.
  2. step 2 :Remove the filter
    • Move your drain pan under your oil filter.
    • Use your filter wrench to loosen up the filter, and remove it the rest of the way by hand.
  3. step 3 :Install the new filter
    • Apply fresh oil to the O ring and hand thread and tighten your oil filter.
    • You want to make sure the filter is screwed on nice and tight; you don’t want it popping off on the highway.
  4. step 4 :Refill your motor oil
    • Check your owners manual for the oil specs, including what kind of motor oil and how much to put in.
    • Remove the oil cap and fill the engine with about a quart less than the recommended and then replace the oil cap.
    • Check your dipstick, start your engine and let it idle for a few moments to heat up and circulate the oil.
    • Shut the engine off.
    • Pull your dipstick again and check the oil level.
    • Add more oil bit by bit till your dipstick shows you have the right amount.

A drip pan, oil filter wrench, oil, oil filter and jack and jack stands. Your oil pan is located right here and you want to just remove this 14 mm drain plug, make sure your drip pan is underneath it. Just let that oil drain out. Once it's drained replace your 14 mm drain plug and tighten it up. Your oil filter is located right here and you want to just use an oil filter wrench on it to loosen it up. Once it's loosened up you can just remove it by hand and again make sure your drip pans underneath there because there will be some oil trapped behind it.

Wipe down the area. Your new oil filter and some fresh oil and just rub it around that O ring and then twist your oil filter back up into place. Spin the filter till it contacts and then tighten it another two-thirds to three-quarters of a turn. Remove your oil fill cap and you want to just replace the oil and you can find out the type of oil and how much of it you need in your user manual. Replace the oil cap and start your vehicle, just let it run for a second. Turn it off and pull out the dip stick, wipe it clean, push it back in all the way. Pull it back out and check your oil level and we're all set.
