Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to replace the front lower engine mount on this 2005 Hyundai Elantra. You'll need a jack and jack stands, and then a 14mm socket, a 14mm wrench, and you'll probably need a ratchet that has a flexible handle that helps you get in one of the angles a little better, and you'll see what we mean. This is on a 2005 Elantra, same for any 2001 to 2006 Elantra with a 2.0 liter motor.
Locate your front lower motor mount at the front of the engine, right in front of the transmission, and right behind the subframe. So, I'm supporting the engine between where the engine and transmission mate together. I'm going to locate the four bolts that hold the motor mount in place, this being one, two, the third one over here on the back behind, and the fourth one right here. They're 14-mm. I'll place my socket wrench on this side. I'm going to hold the wrench on this side and remove the nut and bolt. I'm going to use an adjustable angled ratchet for the two that go in vertically to the subframe. This just makes it easier to get to from underneath. To get it out, I'm going to rotate the plate vertically, slide the whole mount up, turning it a little bit and bringing it down the side.
I'm putting the mount back in, and I start all bolts in before I tighten any of them down. Just fast forward here, as we tighten those up. It's a pretty straightforward repair. Locate the mount. Make sure you support the engine, and then remove all four bolts. Lift the mount up and out. Put it back in, and then tighten up all four bolts again.
