How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a dirty, dusty or clogged air filter on 16 Subaru WRX

  1. step 1 :Removing the Air Filter
    • Pop open the clips
    • Open the air filter housing
    • Remove the air filter
  2. step 2 :Installing the Air Filter
    • Insert the air filter into the housing
    • Close the cover
    • Close the clips

We got a 2016 WRX Subaru. Going to open the hood—the release is under here. So, this will be right above your right knee. The safety release is under here. Push it to the passenger side and the hood will lift up. It's got hood struts, so there's no prop rod or anything.

All right, so to change this air filter you come in here, pull these clips up, slide it open, slide the filter back, and just pull it out. The bottom of this air box clips in, and you really don't have to unclip it. But you want to make sure it stays seated in there when you take the air filter out to change it.

So, we're going to slide the air filter back in the seat, and then like that. Turn our clips over, and your filter is secured again.
