If the air filter is dirty, check out this video and learn how to do this easy repair yourself
Hey friends, it's Len here at IA Auto. Today we're working on our 2011 Mazda3 and I'm going to show you how to replace the air filter. It's going to be super simple.
Here we go. We come right over underneath the engine compartment here. We get the hood up. We've got a little clip right here. We've got another one of the same thing right on the backside. We can lift right up on this, can see our air filter down in here. See if I can grab onto it.
Here we are. Bring it up, slide it out. There it is. This air filter is pretty dirty, as you can tell. It has quite a bit of debris in it. This is blocking airflow from getting into the engine, essentially kind of starving the engine of air, so every place that you see dirt or debris or leaves, it's basically blocking air. Would I replace it? Yes. Let's move ahead to the next step.
Okay, so now we're going to take our air filter, slide it back in just like that. We're going to make sure that the engine side of this housing slides in, because the bottom area has little loops like this. There's one, two, three, it looks like three of them going across. And then the top area has little forks that go right inside. Okay. So when you bring your air filter down, you go in like that, that holds down the engine side and then the clips hold down the outer side.
So now I'm just going to grab them, give it a little wiggle, make sure I can't pull from this side, and I didn't miss putting those in. It looks good to go, down the road we go.
