Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video we're going to show you how to replace your air filter on this 2001 Volkswagen Beetle with the 1.8 Turbo engine. The only tools you'll need for this are a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver.

Start off by loosening up this hose clamp, and now back behind here there's a Phillips screw. You'll want to just go ahead and remove that. Now, you'll want to just push this hose back and off of the top of your air intake box, and then loosen up these two Phillips screws and then, pull them up. They won't pull out, but you'll want to just have them pulled up. Now, pull this hose free and then lift the top of your air intake box up and flip it over. You do kind of have to position it around that intake hose. Pull your air filter up and out.

Take your new air filter and push it down into place, and then take the top of your air intake box and feed it back down into place, making sure you push those tabs on the front of it back into the slots in your air intake box. Once you have it in place, tighten up those two Phillips screws, replace your hose clamp and then push the hose into place on your mass air flow sensor, and tighten up the clamp. Now, just replace the Phillips screw that holds on the top of this air intake hose, and then, reconnect this lower hose. You're all set.
