In this video, we show you servicing the air cleaner on this 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis with the 4.6 liter, same as any '98-'02. It is quite an easy task and requires no tools. Servicinng the air cleaner is pretty easy. There's two clips right here, and you lift the air box up and pull your air filter out. You can see actually this one has been replaced recently.

Put it back in, lift the air box up, put the air cleaner down in. Make sure it's seated in correctly all the way around and there are tabs on the bottom of this top piece. They go in the slots down here. Make sure you push those down in, and then flip the clips up and lock them right down into place.
