Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the air filter. This is a 2006 Ford Explorer. It's pretty much the same for this generation Explorer, this has the V8 engine, so if you have the V6, it may be different but I'm pretty sure it has the same air box. No tools are required.
Start out by opening the hood. Pull the opening lever inside, and then there's a little secondary latch that you lift up on and it kind of pivots out of the way. You can see there's the handle, and that pivots out of the way so you can lift your hood up. The air box is right over here on the passenger side.
Three clamps hold it down. Just flip those up and pull them down out of the way, then lift up on the air hose part to lift up diagonally and push it out. The top of the air box comes up and out. You can take your air filter out and put your new one in.
Make sure it seats correctly, and then you want to feed the tabs on the top of the air box diagonally down into the slots that they go into. Put the top of the air box in place and then re-secure the three latches.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
