Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to service the air filter, the engine air filter, on this 2004 Volvo XC90. It's a pretty easy procedure. You actually don't even need any tools.
To pop your hood pull a lever right down in here. There's a little tab. You reach under right here, pull that up, and pull your hood up. Your air filter's right here on the driver's side. There are three little clasps that you just push off. There's one down here under here. You'll want to pry up on a little clip here or you push down. Disconnect the airflow sensor and then lift up the front of the box. Pull it forward. This allows you to lift your air filter right up and out.
This one is pretty used and dirty. Here's a new filter - K&N filter from 1A Auto. K&N filter or regular filter, whichever one's going to be better than that one. K&N filters are designed to breathe a little better. The manufacturer claims there's a slight horsepower increase. The biggest benefit in my mind is the fact that these are lifetime. You can pull them out each year, wash them, put them back in. You have a nice clean filter. You can do that for as long as you have the vehicle.
The new filter goes back down in. Just make sure it's seated down correctly all the way around. Then, what we're going to do is look back in here. There are three tabs on the back side. You can push the back of the filter box down. Make sure those tabs go in. Push down the rest of the hoses and stuff. They can get in the way. Here we go. Make sure that none of the hoses or wire harnesses get in the way. Push the air box down. Hook your clasps back up. Reconnect your air flow sensor.
