Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we are going to show you how to replace the door check on this 2003 Chrysler Sebring, same as any 2000 to 2006 Sebring as well as the Stratus. We are going to show you the left door, the right door is pretty much the same procedure. You'll need a new part from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, a 10mm socket and ratchet, and a T30 Torx bit.

There are two trap doors here. There is one right here behind the door handle and another here in the pull cup. All you want to do is take a flat blade screwdriver and stick it into the slot on the side of them and just pry them out. Now, what you want to do is remove each of this Philip screws. There are six in total, and we'll just fast-forward as Don removes those. Take your flat blade screwdriver and pry off that triangle panel. To release the clips on the back of the door panel, you just want to pull out all the way around the door panel, and once you have done that, you can lift it up and off of your door lock knob.

Behind the back of the door panel you'll see, here is your door handle rod. You just want to pop that clip up and pull it up and out, and you want to disconnect the two harnesses here by just pushing in the tab and pulling them out. Now your door panel is free.

If we look in here on the inside of the door, here is your door check, and you just want to remove these two T30 bolts right here. Then inside here there are two 10mm nuts, and we are just going to fast-forward as Don removes those. Now you want to be careful not to tear or rip that door shield. Pull the boot off and then pull it from the door. Now the speakers there and there is some harnesses in there, you see we struggle a little bit just to try and get it through, get it angled correctly and through, but once you get it positioned right, it will come right out.

Old door check on the right, the new one on the left from 1AAuto. You can see they're identical, same mounting points and everything. Now you want to just take the door check, feed up it up back through the door, and just push it right back into place. Again, you're going to have to feed it around those harnesses and studs, but once you get it through, you can just line it up. Now if we look at it, you can see those studs are back through the holes and then placed and their hinge is back where it needs to be. We are just going to fast-forward as he replaces those two T30 bolts and those two 10mm nuts.

To reinstall the door panel, you just want to take that door handle rod and put it back into place. Reclip it, and then you want to just reconnect your two harnesses. Once you've done that, you want to just line up your door, put it up and over the door lock knob and down into place, and then you just want to push those clips in around the edges of the door panel. We'll just fast-forward here as Don replaces those six Phillips screws. Now just replace your trap doors and that triangular panel.
