step 1 :Removing the Battery
- Remove the three 13mm bolts from the bracket
- Remove the bracket
- Disconnect the negative battery cable with an 8mm wrench
- Disconnect the positive battery cable with an 8mm wrench
- Remove the 13mm battery mounting bolt
- Remove the battery mount
- Pull out the battery

step 2 :Reattaching the Battery
- Put the battery on the tray
- Put the battery mount in place
- Tighten the 13mm battery mounting bolt
- Reconnect the positive battery cable
- Reconnect the negative battery cable
- Tighten the three 13mm bolts to the bracket

In this video, we're gonna show you how to replace the battery on this 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. The items you'll need for this is an 8mm and a 13mm socket and ratchet with an extension and a wire brush depending on the condition of your battery cables.
Start off by removing these two bolts and loosening this bolt. Each of those are 13mm. Now just swing the bar out of the way and tuck that harness aside. Then loosen up and remove the two battery cables using an 8mm socket and ratchet. Now, down here is your battery hold pen and it's held in with a 13mm bolt. Just go ahead and remove that. Once your bolt is most of the way out, the pull down will just pull right up, and you can just slide the battery forward and pull it up and out.
If your cables look like this, it's a good idea to just clean them up with a wire brush. Take your new battery, lower it down into place, and make sure none of the harnesses are underneath it and it's back behind where that bolt hole is for the bolt down. Just feed the bolt down back into place with the bolt in it. Once you have it started, you want to just tighten it up. Replace your battery cables and tighten them up. Swing this bar back into place and replace those two 13mm bolts. Tighten up all three of those 13mm bolts. You're all set.
