step 1 :Removing the Coolant Reservoir Bottle
- Wait for the vehicle to cool
- Have a drain pan ready
- Remove the hose
- Remove the two 10mm bolts from the bottle
- Remove the bottle

step 2 :Installing the Coolant Reservoir Bottle
- Transfer over the wiring harness clip to the new bottle
- Insert the coolant reservoir bottle into place
- Tighten the two 10mm bolts to the bottle
- Connect the hose
- Refill the coolant

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace your coolant overflow reservoir. This is a 2006 Ford Explorer. It has the 4.6-liter V8 in it.

When your vehicle is cool, just pull the hose off. Twist and pull. Then two 10 millimeter bolts hold the bottle in place. Then the bottle just pulls up and out.
Here you can see the original part from our Ford Explorer and the new part from 1A Auto. Dimensionally, they are the same. It has the correct full cold markings and includes the cap. The stickers are on it, and they've fallen off of our original one.
The only thing we'll need to do is transfer over this little wiring harness clip. A trim clip remover like this is the best way to do it, although you could use pliers or a screwdriver if you needed to. This double tab goes down into this clip here. So kind of look over it and feed it down in. Make sure that goes in and it goes right in place.
The bolt holes should line up. Ten millimeter bolts back in place. Reconnect the overflow hose to the radiator. Now refill your bottle and bring it up to the full cold level.
