Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years' experience restoring repairing cars and trucks like this to show the correct way to install parts from The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.

In this video we'll be replacing the cabin air filter on this 2001 Ford Taurus, the same as any '96 to '07. The tools you'll need are probably a screwdriver, a small flat blade screwdriver and an 8 mm socket and ratchet, although you may not even need to take apart the retainer like I did.

We're looking under the hood of the car at the passenger's side, next to the windshield. You're going to want to remove a series of clips right here. You just need a screwdriver. Pry them off. This panel lifts up. The panel lifts up. Your cabin filter is right here. There's two 8 mm screws right here that you want to remove. Now both the instructions on the filter and the manual for the car say you don't have to remove these two bolts in the next step, but I found it much easier to just remove these two bolts. It takes a little bit longer, but it's much easier to get the filter in and out.

You pull the bracket out. You pull your air filter out. You'll probably want to have a vacuum handy. You can see here it's a new filter from 1A Auto. A little bit cleaner. You feed it down in there. You push it in to get it down and into the whole holder securely. You can see that it's kind of bunched a little bit, but that's okay. You take your retainer and that kind of slack, put it in. Right in with that. Tighten one of the bolts over here. Tighten this one here. This has a couple of little pieces that go down in the slots here and also a couple right up in here. You want to make sure they all go down where they're supposed to.
