In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the cabin air filter on this Ion sedan, same as a lot of Ions from this era, and no tools are required.
Go into your glove compartment and remove anything that's in there. There's little stops that prevent your door from going down further. Reach over here, pull that way, and pull it down. Push on the side of your door until it comes down. Right inside, the little tab here, pull down on the top of your glove compartment a little bit. Push the tab up. That allows a little door to come down. This is always fun because people don't even know these things have them. Pull out your old filter. I can see that it's pretty yucky, nice and black.
Put in your new filter. There's some writing on here: Air Flow Down."? The air flows into this car and goes down into the distribution area. Actually, this goes in sideways. Just make sure that our door has got to be down with our element up in. I'm just going to fast forward here a little bit. It just takes a little bit of finagling. Make sure your door is down and you might have to push up a little bit on the top of the glove compartment. You just work it in and push it a little on one side, a little on the other side, pull that up, pull your little block back down here. Now, just take your glove-box, lift it up into place. The hinges lock again. Put your items back in.
