How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a bad or broken blower motor resistor on 08 Honda Civic
Socket Extensions
Phillips Head Screwdriver
7mm Socket
Ratchet
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
I need to remove this lower dash trim. It's clipped into place with three push clips. So I'm just going to take my fingers, pop that one out, pop this one out in the middle here, and that one popped out too. Three clips. Its got two little rubber bushings that sit in the back here. Let me just lay that down. Guess I'll take it out of the way.
Get to your blower motor resistor. It's right here. There's two seven millimeter self-tap in screws that are holding it in. There's a Phillips head in them, but it's probably a lot easier because of the clearance to use a smart ratchet and extension than a seven millimeter socket to remove them. On this side. Got it loose. I'm just going to take them out with my fingers. Get to the other one. Just, there it is. Just had to work my fingers in there to get it loose. Screw out. Pull the resistor right out. Just get it out of place.
Now I can get to the connector. Push that in and pull it apart. This one's fine so we're going to reinstall it. It's got a flat edge and a pointed edge. It can only go in one way. Pointed edge points towards the center console. So I'm going to put it in place. I'm not going to plug it in right now. It's a little easier to maneuver without being plugged in. It was just difficult to unplug it the way the plug sits. So it should slide right into place. I can actually pull this out of the way. Just got to get my fingers in there.
Just got to get these screws started. And reinstall them. All right had to take my glove off so I have a little better feeling. I've got the both screws started, and now I'm just going to take the ratchet and tighten them back down. All right, so I'm just holding the ratchet with my finger to give it enough drags so that the ratchet actually works. It doesn't just spin the screw back out. Get to a certain point and then it starts to work. These are just self-tap in screws. Just going into plastic so you don't have to over tighten them. Those tightened. You can plug this back in and reach up. Just snap it into place.
Going to reinstall this lower cover. So these two rubber pieces are going to go into these openings here. We're going to push this up in the clips here and here. We're going to snap up into place.
