Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the battery. This is a 2007 Audi A4, and this procedure is pretty much the same for this generation of Audi. The only tools you'll need are a 10mm wrench and a 5mm hex bit with a ratchet and extension.
Once you open up the hood, there are a couple of panels that actually cover the battery that are missing on this vehicle, but I'm pretty sure that they either just pull forward or they have a locking pad. Then, you pull them forward, up, and out.
Your battery is right under here, and the connectors are 10mm nuts. Disconnect your negative first. Just turn counterclockwise, turning the negative off, push it to the side. Then disconnect the positive, loosen, twist, pull up and off to the side.
Then there's a 5mm Allen screw right here, remove that. Then there's this little tab right on top, just pull it up and out, and then pull your battery up and out. Shop-Vac or something else to clean out in there.
We're just reinstalling our old battery. It's in fine shape. We're just doing this to show you. Get it in place. They are heavy. Make sure you don't crush the positive cable as you're going down and in. Make sure it's in there, and then this handy little guide. You take a look down, see the hole, and guide the screw down into it. Make sure it starts by hand nice and easy. Just want to get it firm, don't have to be too tight.
Make sure your battery is not moving. Make sure the cable with the red end on it goes to the positive. The battery has a mark on it. Plus sign is the positive. Positive on first, and we can put our negative on for now, and we'll tighten them up. Put that back on and then replace the cover.
