Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you battery replacement on this 1998 Honda Civic. It's pretty much the same for the Civics in this era. You'll need 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm sockets and ratchet or wrenches.

Use a 10mm socket to loosen up your negative battery clamp. Lift it up and set it aside. Then, using a 12mm socket, loosen up the positive battery cable and lift that up and set it aside. Now remove this 10mm nut on the front of this bracket. Then push the rod down and then you can pull it up and out. Then just loosen this back 10mm nut. Once you have it loose you can lift that bracket up. Be very careful not to touch that bracket to the positive terminal because it will create sparks. Then lift your battery up and out.

Take your new battery, put it down into place, and put that bracket over the top. Put the rod for the bracket down into that hole so that it hooks on. Put the top of it through the bracket and replace that 10mm nut. We'll fast-foward as Don tightens up both of the nuts on the bracket. Now replace your positive battery cable and tighten up that 10mm bolt. Then take your negative battery cable, reconnect it, and tighten up the 10mm bolt. Then you're all set.

Why you Should Replace Not Restore Headlights

See why replacing your cloudy headlights with new ones is always better than refinishing them Why should you replace your headlights and not clean or refinish them? Three reasons: It's a simple fix, it increases visibility, and it enhances the overall look of your vehicle. Headlights are made from a polycarbonate plastic that can be damaged by UV rays from the sun or suffer pitting caused by road debris light salt and rocks. If you look closely at an old set of headlights, you'll see that the lens is full of micro-cracks. This is called crazing. This crazing, along with pinning, will turn your headlights from crystal clear to hazy yellow and it cuts the output in half, making it very difficult to see at night. It also makes your car look old and dated. With parts from 1AAuto.com and our how-to videos, you can make your vehicle look new and stay safe on the road.
