Hey friends, it's Len here from 1A Auto. Today we're going to be working on our 2006 Toyota 4Runner, and I want to show you how to remove and install your Ambient Air Temp Sensor. If you need any parts, check us out, Thanks.

All right, so let's get the hood up here. Awesome. We can see our Ambient Air Temp Sensor, it's located right here. You've got the wiring harness that goes into it, should have a little push tab right there. If you wanted to, you can squeeze that now and just try to lift it up. If it doesn't want to come apart, which is very common, what I would do, I would take my little forky tool or you can use whatever you've got. Just get right in between here and pull out this clip. Now you can get a much better grip on this. Just going to give this a little squeeze. It still doesn't feel like it squeezes in very far, but if you look down inside there and see where the lock is, when I push that down, it shouldn't want to come unlocked. So I'm just going to grab that with my flat screwdriver and give this a tug. This right here is your Ambient Air Temp Sensor, and then of course the clip. The clip itself just has a little lock here. And then this should slide out this way. See if I can get it.

Now, of course this one doesn't want to come off very easy, but this right here, the black part, is the sensor. If you were replacing it, you would just take this clip off by squeezing that lock right there and then it should come right off. All right, slide your new one on. Take your Ambient Air Temp Sensor, you're going to put the wiring so it's ready to face up. Check the original harness. Make sure you don't see any funny colors in there, rust or anything besides metal, is no good, so you'd want to either clean this out or you can just replace it. We'll clip it in. I hear a little click, give it a nice tug. It's not coming apart. Take this, give it a squeeze in there. Grab our tools, close the hood, down the road you go.
