In this video we're going to show you how to replace the mass air flow sensor on this 2000 Nissan Altima, and it's the same part and process for these Altimas from '98 to 2001. The items you'll need for this is a new mass air flow sensor from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, and a 10mm socket and ratchet. Your mass air flow sensor is located right here and you want to start off by disconnecting the harness. Just push in on the tab and pull it free, and then pull the harness clip out of this bracket. Now you want to open up this bracket and remove that hose and pull that hose from the other bracket. Using a flat blade screwdriver, you want to loosen up this hose clamp. Now you want to pull up on these two tabs and then push down on this tab and the tab right over here. Now pull the top of your air intake box up and out.
Now to separate the mass air flow sensor, you have to remove these four 10mm bolts. We'll just fast forward as Don does this. To remove the bracket and the mass air flow sensor are free. On the right is the old mass air flow sensor. On the left is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll mount exactly the same. Take your new mass air flow sensor and put the bracket into place and a bolt down through that. Then line the bolts up with the top of your air intake box. Twist the bolt into place. We'll fast forward as Don tightens that up and replaces the other three bolts and tightens them up.
Push the mass air flow sensor back into place and lower the top of your air intake box back into place and re-clip it. Then put that hose back into that bracket and clip it back down. Then push that hose back into its bracket and tighten up the hose clamp on the mass air flow sensor. Next, reconnect your mass air flow sensor harness, and then push that clip back into its bracket and you're all set.
