Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video we're going to be working with our 1996 GMC Sierra K1500 5.7-liter V8.

We're going to show you how to open up your air box and inspect the condition of your air filter to make sure that it's in good shape and that it's got your engine getting a good flow of clean air to run at its maximum efficiency.

You only need a new air filter for this repair if yours is dirty.

Locate the hook on the air box. This one has a twin on the opposite side. We'll lift up on the bottom of the both hooks to release them and move them out of the way. Lift up and pull out to remove our air box cover. The air filter then lifts up and comes out.

Ours is filthy. You can see very dirty, it's been in there a long time. This is going to keep our engine from getting a good flow of clean air which means it's going to be using less air and less fuel, meaning less power and less efficiency.

We'll want to get a new one and change it out by popping it back in and down into the air box. Setting the hooks from our air box into these four slots at the bottom, close it down tight and reinstall the hooks on both sides.

Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
