How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a dirty, dusty or clogged air filter on 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 Subaru Impreza WRX
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
Let's open the hood. Pull the release inside the cabin and undo the safety. It's right here. Prop rod is over here. Change the air filter. There's two spring clips here. Pop them off. There's two tabs at the back of the air box, so you actually lift it up. Careful with these hoses. These are coolant hoses, so try not to disturb those. It could cause a coolant leak. Just kind of gently lift up, and pull the air filter right out.
This one doesn't look too bad, so I'm going to reuse it. Going to slide back in. Make sure it's seated. There's two tab and they're really tricky to see. There's one here and then one opposite of it. You want to make sure that those get locked in to the air box. Back that in so they will lock. Pull the spring clips back up and the air filter is swapped.
