In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and replace the air filter on this 1998 Dodge Durango, same for any Durango from pretty much '98 to '03, whether it's the 4.7, the 5.2 or 5.9. It's also the same as Dakota and some of the Ram trucks, as well. No tools are needed.
We're replacing the air filter on this Durango. It's pretty easy. We're here looking at the passenger side of the engine compartment. This air box has four clips. They're right here. You just use your thumb and push them out. There is a fourth one back here in the back. Then it just lifts up and off. Then this is your air filter right here. Just peel it up and off. You want to usually replace these probably about every 30,000 miles or so. This one is actually dirty. You can see there's a good line of dirt here.
I'm just going to put it back in for right now. I don't have a new one with me. This is just to show you. To reinstall it, just make sure it goes down in nicely. Then this has little teeth, basically, that go into grooves on the side of the air box. Push it down. Reclip all your clips. Then you're all set.
