Watch this video to learn how to replace the air filter on your 97-05 Ford Explorer 4.0L or Mercury Mountaineer.
Brought to you buy 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. In this video we're going to show you how to replace the air filter on this '98 Ford Explorer, pretty much the same as any '97 to '05 Explorer. No tools are needed.
We're looking at the front passenger side here. There are two clips you pull up like that and off and over here as well. They're off. Then you pull up here a little bit and then push that way. Then you push a little harder to bring this up like that. Then here's your air filter right underneath. Just pull it up and out, obviously putting it back in the same way. Just make sure it's down nice and even on there. Then you take the box top, push it over and down. Make sure that you get these three tabs down to where they belong. That involves kind of pulling up and pushing down. Then you put the clips back on. You're all set.
