In this video we're going to be working with our Chevy Equinox 3.4-liter V6. We're going to show you how to remove, inspect and replace the engine air filter.

To remove the top of the airbox and inspect or change your air filter, you're going to want to pop this tab here, and the same one on the backside of the airbox. Release those tabs. Lift up and push in on the airbox, so you can raise the lid up and out of the way. Then remove your air filter.

We have a little leaf here, but other than that, this air filter looks like it's been replaced recently. Normally these will fill up with dirt and debris, clogging the filter and reducing airflow to the engine, making it work harder for less air, which reduces efficiency and power out of the engine. Changing these filters out, or at least checking them, is something that you should be doing on a regular basis with your vehicle just about every oil change.

Now our air filter is okay, so we'll install it using the same process that you would use to install a new air filter if yours is dirty. You can see that we have it labelled up. We have this little bump out which has a pattern in the bottom of the airbox that we'll want to set it into. Reinstall the lid of the airbox. For this you'll have to lift up on the top and push back until the hinges set into place. Once they're in, reinstall your two snaps, and you're good to go.
