How to Replace 3rd Brake Light Bulbs 1994-2002 Dodge RAM 1500

Hey friends, it's Len here at 1A Auto. Today we're going to be working on our 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 and I'm going to show you something very simple, replacing a third brake light bulb. We're going to come right up inside the bed and you're going to see you have a Phillips head here and a Phillips head there.

Give this a little shake. I'm sure one will pop right off. It's been on there for a little while so I'm not going to get mad at it for not wanting to cooperate right off the bat. Just pull this off of here now. Come on baby. There we are. Okay, so we've got our third brake light bulbs right in here. As you could tell those are pretty much on their way out. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't replace them. Let's come right in here. This one, these light bulbs right here are for when you open up your door, and or if you turn your headlight switch to the left, these will come on. They provide a nice a light inside the bed for when you're working. You just pull out the bulb, you can inspect it. If it looks like the filament's blown like this one, you'd replace it. This is a 921 bulb. If you do one, you do both.

So there we are. Out with the old. We'll make sure that we up-cycle those. We'll do whatever we need to do with them. In with the new. And we're right in here, one there. One right there. Put that in. Put that in. Put this up inside the vehicle and turn it over, looks better that way. If you wanted to clean this down and make a nice surface, that might be good. You could reseal it to keep moisture out of there. For the purpose of the video, I'm just demonstrating how to replace the bulb. Let's test it. Nice.
