How to Remove Rear Liftgate Outer Panel (Applique) 08-12 Ford Escape

step : Removing the Interior Liftgate Panel (0:25)
- Open the liftgate
- Remove the four Phillips screws from liftgate panel
- Pull the panel down to loosen it
- Lower the liftgate
- Lift the lift glass
- Push out the upper section of the panel
- Remove the liftgate panel

step : Removing the Rear Exterior Liftgate Trim (1:16)
- Remove the two 11mm nuts directly behind the hatch
- Disconnect the switch electrical connector
- Squeeze the retainer clips to the side with needle nose pliers and press them up
- Press the rubber grommet on the wiring harness through
- Lower the hatch
- Slide the weather strip up a little
- Remove the exterior trim

step : Installing the Rear Exterior Liftgate Trim (3:43)
- Slide the connector and rubber grommet into the hatch door
- Press the exterior trim onto the hatch door
- Open the hatch door
- Connect the wiring harness
- Tighten the 11mm bolts to the exterior trim

step : Installing the Liftgate Panel (4:55)
- Insert the liftgate panel into place
- Press the liftgate panel clips in
- Tighten the four Phillips screws to the liftgate panel
- Close the liftgate

- Pick
- Needle nose pliers
- Socket Extensions
- Ratchet
- Flat Blade Screwdriver
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- 11mm Socket
