How To Remove Rear Door Panel Trim 1994-97 Honda Accord

In this video, we're going to show you door panel removal and replacement on this '95 Honda Accord for the rear door. The only tools you'll need are a Phillips screwdriver, a regular screwdriver and a putty knife with a rag or a door panel clip tool if you have one. Door panel removal on one of these Accords. First you need to remove 2 screws. There's one down in that door pull right there, a Phillips screw, and then one in the door handle. Normally this has a little door, little trim that you have to use a regular flat-blade screwdriver and flip it out of the way. It's broken off on this car. This corner trim pulls right off. It just has a metal tab that holds it into that slot. Now you need a putty knife and a rag. I usually put the putty knife inside the rag, slide it in behind the door panel, feel for a clip. You basically just slide up. Actually, you can see once one of the clips goes, they all do. Run your hand around the edge of the tub. It helps if we also slide the door handle forward. Pull it out. There's a little clip back here that you have to pull off.

You can either do it with your thumb or a screwdriver. Pull this rod up and out of the handle. Then your window switch unplugs from the harness. Press on this tab here and pull the connector out. Now you can go up with the door panel and off. The only other thing is, on the back here, there's your courtesy light that's plugged in. The button you have to press is in the back. You reach under it, press the button and pull. Also, you can see here, the clips that you need to release on the door panel. Once your door panel's off, you can service whatever you need to. When you go inside the door, I recommend that you try to keep this water shield that you can hardly see because somebody's just ripped it apart. Try and keep that water shield intact. Remove the screws and any of the connectors that might be holding the water shield. Take those pieces off and then take the water shield off carefully so you can re-adhere it. Usually you can re-adhere it with the same glue.

Sometimes you might need to use some duct tape or masking tape just to give it a little extra stick. Putting the door panel on is just the reverse. Plug in the courtesy light down at the bottom. Get your lock right up through, push it on. I'm pushing the top towards the window and trying to clip it down on. Make sure that's screwed. Your holes should line up pretty easily. If they don't, that means you might not have it down far enough. Once you get it on, re-do all the clips. Connect your power window switch first. Pull your lock rod out, push it down into the hole. First I'll get my clip more in the ready position here. Pull this rod out, push it down in, slide the clip around, clip it back on, push it in and back. Install the screw up here. Push your handle down in. If you're lucky, you can drop the screw right in. If you're not, put it on the screwdriver and guide it down in. This panel goes back in, snaps on and your door panel is back on.
