Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the front door panel on this 2003 Saturn Ion. It's pretty much the same for any '03 to '07. We do this on the driver door, but the passenger side is very similar. The only tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver. An additional door panel clip tool or putty knife may help.
Your front door panel, first there's a panel here. Use your hands or use a screwdriver, pry and it just pops off. Then there are three screws to remove: two right there in your door pull and then one right down here on the corner.
Then there are two clips to pull out. You pry underneath here, pull the center out, and then pry the clip out. I'm just going to speed up as I use a Phillips screwdriver to take out those three screws. Inside, these clips just pry out on the center. Pull those out, then just pry out the remaining clips same thing down here. Just put the clip back together for the next time around.
Carefully go in behind your door lock switch and just pry out. It comes out, and there's just a little tab. Use a flat blade screwdriver. Just get in there a little bit, that disconnects. The same thing with your mirror switch here. Pry up lightly. There's a tab right here which you pull back and the switch unhooks. This whole panel comes up and these little tabs on these connectors. Press the tab with your thumb and pull it down. Same thing with this blue one. Press the tab.
Sometimes you might have to use a screwdriver and kind of push on the tab where it's locked. Pry up and it disconnects. At this point, you can just start up at this top corner and pull down. There are two clips down underneath. Work your hand underneath, give a good quick tug and the panel comes up and off.
To reinstall your door panel, put your harnesses up through. One harness is if you have power locks. Tilt your panel up and press down on the window ledge. Tap down in place. Let's put the trim back on and let's put our screws in. Reconnect the window harness. Reconnect our mirror harness.
Push down in, front slides in first. That pops in. The lock harness, make sure you put in here the right way. Okay, one side is a little more rounded. It goes in the panel like that. Now we'll put our screws back in. Last, but not least, put these in and pop them in place.
