Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we show you how to remove and put back on the front door panel on this '97 Dodge Intrepid, same as any '93 to '97. The only tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips head screwdriver.
Start by disconnecting your negative battery cable using a 10mm wrench. This is really just to prevent your battery from running down while you have the door open. Remember to reconnect it at the end.
Use a flat blade screwdriver, pry the front of your speaker grille out, and then pull the grille off. Now, there are seven screws: one there, two on either side of your speaker, one down at the bottom of the door, one up in here behind the door handle, one down in here in the pull cup, and then one here on the back edge of the door. I'm just going to fast-forward as I remove those seven Phillips screws. Once the screws are out, remove the handle. Lift up. Behind, there's a clip here. Take it off with your thumb. Pull this rod up and out.
In most of my door panel videos, I show you how to take if all the way off. On this vehicle you can take it all the way off, but it's not really necessary for most of the repairs you have to do. To take it all the way off, you have to unhook all the harnesses, and the harnesses are also clipped to the door panel, so it's actually kind of a pain to take it all the way off, so you can pull it down like this, and you can accomplish most projects in behind it just with it hanging there like that.
To put the door panel back on you want to lift it up. You can see down there, you want to hook up the tabs into the door at the bottom. Then lift it, close, and reconnect. Lift it up into place, make sure your lock is through, push it against the door, slide it down onto I'm going to really speed it up here as I put those seven screws back in. For this door panel, it's pretty easy to put back on. You just make sure it's in place, make sure all the hooks are in place, and make sure the top is correct. Push it in and down, replace all these screws, and then replace your speaker grille.
