Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the driver's door panel, which is basically the same as the passenger's door panel on this 2000 Olds Alero two-door, same as any '99 to '04. The tools you'll need are a small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, and either a putty knife or a door panel clip tool.
Use an eight millimeter wrench and disconnect your negative battery cable.
You're going to start under your door pull. It's a little trap door here. Either from the top or bottom, just pry that off, and there are two Phillips screws in there. We'll speed it up here a little bit as I just remove those screws. I'll use fast-forward quite often when I'm just doing monotonous tasks like this. Right up here, you just pull on this panel. It comes off. If you have a speaker here, just use a screwdriver, pry up on this tab and disconnect it. Down in this corner, use a little screwdriver, and pull this reflector out. Then inside here, there's a Phillips screw. Once you have that out, use a door panel clip tool and putty knife and start anywhere. Slide it until you feel a clip in the door panel. With the door panel clip tool, you go around the clip, and then pull. That screw comes out. Put it in the car. If you can see back in here, these are the clips. Then work your way all the way around the door. Then once you have the door pretty loose, it comes out and lifts up. For the door lock, pull back on this tab, disconnect it. Then these two switches just have tabs on them. For this one, I'm just going to reach underneath. Pull that one off. This mirror switch is a little more difficult. There's a tab right here. Use a screwdriver. I just take my screwdriver, and force it up in there. Pry that down, and that released. The last one here is my trunk switch. Again, just use your screwdriver. There's a locking tab right here.
Plug in our lock switch up here and our mirror. Just push this in a little bit. Put in the power window switch. This one goes down to our trunk switch. Then, make sure you push the top of the door panel in. Make sure this speaker lead is up out of there. Push the door panel down into that channel. You have to use your putty knife or your clip tool to force the upholstery in there a little bit. Peek back in here, make sure your pins are in where they should be. Fast-forward through reinstalling those three Phillips screws. Put your reflector back in. Clip this panel back on. Plug back in the lead, there.
Then reconnect your negative battery cable.
