Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years' experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we'll be showing you removal and installation of a door panel on this 1998 Camry as pictured on a lovely New England morning. The tools you will need for this job are a small flat-blade screwdriver, a medium or a large flat-blade screwdriver, a Phillips Screwdriver, and a putty knife or a door panel clip tool.
First think we're going to do is we're going to roll the window down. We're going to in the back of this panel and lift up and it comes up pretty easy on this car. Then these things just pull out and then the switch is free. A small screwdriver, and there's a little bezel here for the door handle. I'm going to use the small screwdriver and start this one here, kind of use the bottom and the back. Now also there's another little one there. I'm going to use a bigger screwdriver. I'm going to get my larger screwdriver and finish pulling this one here and then pull this one off here. Then there are three Philip's Screwdrivers I'm going to screw some undo here, one in behind here and one in behind here and there are also two screws up under the door pin, the door handle, or switch plate here. Use a Philip's Screwdriver to screw it again. Okay, then there are two additional screws way down in the bottom here that you want to remove and one up here.
Okay you want to remove this upper panel here with this little speaker on it. I'm going to pick a good-sized screwdriver, put it in behind. I'm just using the rag so I don't scratch the paint of the car. Work the screwdriver behind there and it pops off and it lifts up and out.
Now you remove the trip plate around this door handle by start with the screwdriver at the bottom, pry it out a little bit, and then the same thing at the top, and then it comes out like that. Then once all that's done, you can just kind of grab hold and give a good tug and the screws might come out. Then there's another connector right up here if you want to get right in behind, actually it's better to use a rag. Get right in behind your door panel and kind of grab the bottom and pop that up as well. And then once it's pretty much apart, the last part is just to pull it up and off. Okay, let me see, it looks like we've got something connected here to this speaker so before I go too far Oh okay, it was just stuck on there. Okay, so then your door panel's off.
So before we go to put the door panel back on we need to remove this little tab from here then it comes out as the bracket and this actually then flips right onto the door here. Now we take the door panel, put the harness on through, hang it up on top and then push it to the outside of the car and make sure it clips down over itself. Make sure we get our harnesses up as far as we need them, take this clip back, pull the pin out, push it through and lock it. Push the pins on. Install the door lock bezel, the front goes on first and the back pushes on. Install the switch plate. Again, the front goes in first, here it goes. Okay, we get our screws, the bottom ones, so we'll put in the bottom screws, put in this screw, the screw underneath, the front screw, and we're good.
