Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we'll be removing and replacing the door panel on this 2003 Monte Carlo, basically the same as any '00 to '07. Tools you'll need are a Phillips head screwdriver, T27 Torx Bit, flat blade screwdriver, a putty knife and a rag.
To remove the door panel, first you're going to remove four screws. One Phillips here, a Phillips here and then there's two T27 Torx screws right up in here. Now that you've removed those screws, you can pull out on this panel and then forward and it comes off. Then for your switch, you use a regular flat blade screwdriver and pry out on one side and pull the switch out some and then pull the whole switch and pry the other side. Now you want to use a putty knife and a rag or a paper towel, or something. The paper towel just protects the paint. Work it back in here and then work it up right into there and then pull and then once you get the one, this panel actually pulls free pretty easily, just pull around the outside edge. Then lift up and your door panel is off. You still have your mirror and your power window connected here.
Looking in from behind, it's a little hard to shoot this, but basically you want to work, there's a tab in the back of your connectors. You want to work your screwdriver right up in there and then pull. I can show you it afterwards here. Basically what you are doing is right here is where the tab goes in, so you're just working your screwdriver in there and working it in there to release that tab. These connectors you can see right there, that's what you want to be pressing in. Now your door panel is off.
Push the power window. Hook that back up. I'm doing it blind so it's a little hard to tell where you're supposed to be. That goes back in. Your power mirror, goes back in. Make sure your power lock goes up through the hole here. Take the top of your panel, line up where this hole is supposed to be here for the power mirror so you have it in the right spot. Push the top of it and down. Make sure this is all lined up pretty good. You can push it on. This next piece can go on. Actually push your door lock button in. Push the back of this in and then on. Then you have your four screws. The two T27 screws, you want to make nice and tight because they hold everything together as far as when you pull on the door. I'll test everything: window, mirror, door locks. Everything is good.
