How To Remove Bumper 2003-07 Saab 9 - 3

In this video we're going to show you how to remove and re-install the front bumper cover on this 2003 Saab 9-3 4-door. Same as any 2003 4-door or 2004 to 2007 9-3. Tools you'll need are 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension, flat blade screwdriver, and some pliers. You may need to remove and re-install your bumper cover if you have to service any of the items that are in behind, such as the washer bottle, or even the headlights.

To remove the front bumper cover, first you want to remove a series of clips. You can see on my vehicle they're actually all missing. These clips are pretty easy. I believe they're the style where you push the very center in and then you can pry the clip out. If they're not that style, then you just pry the center of it out and pull the clip out. You would first remove those six from up there. Now down below, you're going to want to remove a series of bolts. There's one right up in here, here, and one down here. Then, right up underneath, there's one here, then a few others. There probably should be one there but it's gone, and one here. Then it's the same thing over on this side here except it looks like most of them are missing on this side. This car's been damaged a little bit and some work's probably been done. I'll fast forward here. Those bolts are all 8mm so I'm using an 8mm socket with a ratchet. Here I'm using an extension. There should be nine bolts in all, although you'll only see me remove five from this car because, like I said, it looks like it's been taken apart before but not put back together properly.

Right here there's a connector. Take a little screwdriver and start prying out on this red part. Let's see if I can do this. Then you pull that out and that disconnects. Then there are two tabs here on top: one on the top here, and then one the same place on the bottom. That connector pulls out. Here, use a pair of pliers. Pinch this clamp and pull it up. Then twist this hose and pull it off of the thing. You'll want to pull this up. I just tuck the hose right up in here. I won't need it.

Bring this hose down. It's going to leak some. Plug it in quickly. Use our pliers. Put the clip in place. Bring this right up. Put it in. Make sure you pull that out. Plug this in. You want to get it started and push the locking clip. Plug it in.

Pull our fascia up. Slide it into place. What you should do is, if you have your clips, you put your clips on. I'm just going to put a screwdriver right here which is going to hold it in place. Make sure it goes in around the headlight correctly. Lock that in and the other side. Make sure it's around the headlights correctly. Lock that on. Here I'm going to speed it up as I start in those bolts. Again, there should be nine 8mm bolts. You only see me install five because that's all my vehicle had. There should be three on each side in the wheel well as well as three across the front. Put those in. Make sure you get them all in first and then tighten them up nice and snug.
