Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

So if you go to jack up your Jetta or Golf, I'm going to show you where you can do it. As you can see, I do have this up on a lift but that just allows me to video it that much more easily. I'm going to come around to the right in front of the rear wheel here and what you want to look for is your undercarriage. You want to put your jack right underneath where you see where it bolts to the frame. That's a good solid mounting point. If you're coming in from the back, don't. Really, there's nowhere to jack your vehicle up. This is the fuel tank right here. You do not want to put a jack underneath the fuel tank.

If you're looking to jack the wheels up in the back, you basically always want to put it, like I said, underneath where the bolt goes in. If you need to put a safety stand in, you can put it under this beam that goes across here or you could put it a little further back on the rear suspension. If you're looking to just jack one wheel up, it's obviously right in here, if you need jack both wheels up, jack one side up, support it with a safety stand, and then jack the other side up and support with a safety stand.

Then at the front, you can see I've got my lift right under this brace here that's in the floor. You could go further in to where the front carriage mounts on to the unibody of the car. Let me go in from the side here. You basically want to take your jack in from the side and go a little further in. You can see this hole here to where it's braced here. You could also jack underneath the undercarriage here, so if you want to come in from the front with your jack, go in front of the car, come in, beside the wheel, look for the control arm here, and you want to jack really underneath this brace here. Obviously you don't want to jack underneath here, this is the transmission, and you definitely do not want to put your jack in the middle, which that is your oil pan right there, do not put your jack there. As for the other side, it's the same thing. Jack it right in the undercarriage or you can jack it up back here where there's bracing. Again, coming from the front, the undercarriage is here. If you want to lift both wheels off the ground, I'd suggest jacking one side up, putting a safety stand either here or here. Then jack the other side up and put the safety stand underneath it as well in the same spot.
