Here are the items you'll need for this repair: jack and jack stands

On most vehicles there are a few places you can securely jack the vehicle up as well as securely support it on jack stands to make a repair. On this particular vehicle we have a steel sub-frame at the front. This should be nice and easy to slide a jack under and lift up from here. Then we can place our jack stands either on these horns here.

Here on the back of the steel sub-frame, you don't want to put them both in the middle. Having them close together is going to make the vehicle unstable. We also have our pinch welds. You can see we have a little cut-out here. This is for the jack stand to sit into or a jacking point if you want to use your jack to lift it up here.

We also have stub-frames on this vehicle. This does not have a frame like a truck or an SUV would, but you can see that it does have this boxed channel on it. This is another good place that we can either lift up or support the vehicle from. In the rear we have the same thing. See, we actually have this little bump down here. This is where we would lift the vehicle from, and then to make it easy for you, you can jack it up here. We have a cutout where we can secure our jack stand right next to it so you don't have a conflict between lifting and supporting in the same place.

The rear of the vehicle has steel control arms, a steel sub-frame, and the bottom of the differential is also steel. Watch out for the cover; it is aluminum. All of these things are good areas to lift from because we have nice, solid steel components. Before jacking or supporting the vehicle from any of these places, always be sure to check the condition of the steel and that it's not rusted out, corroded, compromised, or covered in a grease that's going to make it weaker or slippery and not a good and safe place for you to raise the vehicle and work under it safely.
