How To Perform Oil Change 2002-09 GMC Envoy

step 1 :Draining the Oil
- Raise the vehicle on jack stands
- Remove the four 13mm bolts from the panel
- Remove the panel
- Have a drain pan ready
- Remove the 13mm bolt from the drain
- Twist on the 13mm drain bolt
- Tighten the bolt with a 15mm wrench or socket and ratchet

step 2 :Removing the Oil Filter
- Remove the oil filter with an oil filter wrench
- Clean the area with a rag

step 3 :Installing the Oil Filter
- Pour fresh oil into the oil filter
- Place a layer of oil around the rim of the oil filter
- Twist the oil filter into place
- Tighten the oil filter with the oil filter wrench
- Replace the panel and the 13mm bolts

step 4 :Servicing the Oil
- Remove the oil cap
- Place a funnel into the oil fill
- Replace the oil to the recommended amount
- Replace the oil cap
- Start the vehicle
- Turn the vehicle off
- Check the oil level with the dipstick

In this video, we're going to show you how to do an oil change on this 2003 GMC Envoy XL. The items that you'll need for this is a 13mm socket and ratchet, drip pan, oil filter wrench, oil filter, oil funnel, and jack and jack stands are recommended just to make it a little easier.
Your oil drain plug and oil filter are right here, but to make it a little easier we can just remove this panel out of the way. To do that, you just have to remove these four 13mm bolts. We'll fast-forward as Mike does that. Once those are removed, either pull it down or turn it out of the way. Then we just clean out some of this dirt that gets trapped up here. Make sure you have a drip pan underneath your oil drain plug, and then just remove that 13mm drain plug. It's good to do this when the engine is warm. That maximizes the amount of old oil you get out. Now let all of the oil drain out.
Using an oil filter wrench just twist your oil filter free. With the wrench, you just need to break it free, and then you can twist it out the rest of the way by hand. Make sure your drip pan is underneath it because there will be some oil trapped behind it. Wipe down the area for the drain plug, replace the plug, and tighten it up. Then wipe down the area for the oil filter.
Take your new oil filter and pour some fresh oil into it. Then just rub some of that fresh oil around the O-ring. Then twist the filter up into place. Once you have it twisted in, just use the oil filter wrench to tighten it up a little bit more. Put your pan back into place and replace and tighten up those four bolts. We'll fast-forward as Mike does this.
Remove the oil fill cap, and, using a funnel, just replace the oil. You can refer to your driver's manual to see how much oil and which type of oil you will need. When it's full, replace the cap.
Start your vehicle. Make sure you get oil pressure. Let it circulate for a minute or two. After you run the engine, just check the oil and fill it as you need to. About a quart low so we'll add a quart and be all set. To reset the light, put the vehicle into the on position and then just pump the gas pedal three times within five seconds. Then it will blink off. Turn the vehicle off, put it back into the on position and you can see the light goes out. You're all set. We hope this video helps you out.
