Changing the spare tire on this Altima. We're going in the trunk. Trunk release button is here. If you can, find a piece of wood or rock or something before you jack up the vehicle and just chop the wheel. Trunk. Jack and tools under the rug here. This is our jack handle and our lug nut wrench. Pull the jack out. Spare tire is located under the carpet in the trunk and under the cardboard support. Just have to unscrew it. Just put this over here.

Pull the spare tire out. Going to let that stuff fall down. If you're doing this on the side of the road, make sure you're pulled off in a safe place. I'm going to take the jack, position it under the car. There are two openings right here in the pinch weld on the bottom of the body. The jack is going to go between those. I'm just going to use my hand to turn it up and get it in position. There is a slot in the middle of the jack that will go over this pinch weld. Before we jack the car up, though, got to loosen the lug nuts. Take our tool that came with the car. This car doesn't have any locking lug nuts. Loosen these on the ground.

With the lug nuts loose, it's now time to jack up the vehicle. Use the jack handle. Jack the vehicle up just enough to get the wheel off the ground. That looks good there. Going to finish taking the wheel off. This one's stuck on there. Take one of the lug nuts, and then if you're on the side of the road you probably don't have a mallet. Just take your foot, kick it. The aluminum wheel can corrode to the steel hub. Take the tire off.

Put this in the back of your vehicle. You've got a temporary spare tire. This is only meant to get you off the road and to a safe place where you can have your regular tire repaired or replaced. The instructions for how far you can drive on this should be in your owner's manual. Use our lug tool to tighten them. If you don't have a torque wrench with you, just get these as tight as you can get them. Lower your vehicle back down. If you're on the side of the road, don't worry about compressing it all the way. Just get it out from under your car, put it in the back of your car, and get on your way to get off the highway safely. One last step.

With the tire on the ground, we're going to take our lug nut tool and we're just going to tighten these as tight as we can go. Do it in a cross pattern. Again, the goal is just to get you off the side of the road and where it's safe.
