What's up guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. In this video, I'm going to show you how to install these bed lights on this 2015 Chevy Silverado. Do you need these parts or other parts for your vehicle? Click the links in the description and head over to 1AAuto.com.
We're going to have to run the wires behind the tail lights, so we're going to take both tail lights out. Want to take these two screws out and I'm going to use this T15 socket and a ratchet. Take that out. Take the lower one out as well. Just grab the taillight. We just want to pull the tail light forward. There's two pins in the back. Just like that. Right there and right there. Just remove this socket and twist it to the left. I'm going to remove this socket, twist that to the left. Same with this one. This one's in there pretty good. There we go. Slide that out and there's the lens.
The nice thing about this kit, it comes with this wiring harness that actually plugs into the factory connector so we don't have to wire any wires, which is awesome. It makes it a lot easier. And it's labeled. Right here is the driver's side, so that harness is going to go towards the driver's side and this says passenger side right on it. Then this is going to plug in. Right here, here's where the connector is going to connect. You're going to have to take this thing out, throw that away, and this is where the harness is going to plug it, right into that box right there. Now it's plugged in.
Now, we'll take the driver's side, double check and make sure that says driver's side, and it does. I'm going to slide it through here. Let's run it over here. That sets right there. We'll take this, and then this is going to go up this hole right here. It's going to go out where the tail light is. Then I'm going to do the same with the other side. Run these wires this way. This wire's going to go straight out here. There we go.
With this wiring harness, we need to fish this through here. We want it to come out right here. So what we're going to do, and it's a good idea to use a coat hanger. I'm just going to use a magnet. We're just going to tape the wiring harness to this magnet. There we go. Slide this through here and come over here. Just grab it right there. Slide the wiring harness through. You can take this tape off. Now that's through and we can do the same with the other side.
Okay, so it comes with this hardware. It comes with the screws and then these little push retainers going here, right under here. These are already drilled out for you. Put two on this side, two on the other side. There we go.
These lamps are the same, these LED lights on. It doesn't matter which side you put them on, they're exactly the same. So this is going to go this way with the light facing down like that. Just going to take a 7mm socket extension, take one of the screws, get this whole started.
Now, this is a little bit tricky because of the angle of this, its kind of hard to get this started. If you had a universal socket or a swivel socket, it would help to help to get these. Just snug it down, not too tight, it is plastic. With those all in good, then we'll just take the connector, plug it in right here, and then push down in the lock. We'll do the same with the other side.
Before we tighten up the bolts on this side, we're just going to fish the wire through the backside of this on top of the light. Just pull it through just like that and we can tighten these bolts down. Make sure you don't crush the wire, just double check. We can plug this site in. Just take the connector, line it up, plug it in, lock it down. Now, there's these wire retainers. After everything's wired up, we can insert those retainers in the holes that are pretty close to where the retainer is on the wine. We'll do the same with the other side.
At this point, you're going to want to test the lights to make sure they work before you button everything up, put the lights in, put the wiring harness where it needs to go. We know ours work. We'll show you at the end.
This wiring harness is going to go right here, there's a hole pre-drilled. Then right here as well. from this side, you're going to find where the hole is drilled out. There's a lot of dirt on here. Looks like it's right there. Push that in there. Come through over to here. There's one right there. There's another one right here. And one more right here. Then the other side, do the same.
Now, we're going to reinstall the tail lights. Take these sockets, line it up, and just twist it clockwise. Take the reverse socket and the other tail light bulb. Line these pins up in the body. Press it in. Take these two screws, put those in. We'll take our T15 and a ratchet, tighten these up nice and snug. Then you can do the same for the other side.
Now we can turn them on. We turn them on with the cargo light switch. Check them out. They look awesome. Nice, easy job to do. Not too difficult. Get yours at 1AAuto.com.
