How To Install Trifold Tonneau Cover 1997-2003 Ford F150

So this is the 1A Auto Trifold Tunnel Cover. This is the one I like best. I put this on my trucks. Just put it right up in place, and then these are buckled in right now. You unbuckle them, and then fold the cover out and remove the packing padding. You want to remove this cardboard from here.

Important to note that when you stow these handles, when you are folding the cover up, they lock down into place like that. We'll pull this the rest of the way.

Then we're going to position it. So I'm right near the edge, now look I can see my outside rib on my upper panel. You could measure with a tape measure if you wanted to. Check the other side. See, you could come over just a little bit more, there's that rib. I'll go to the front, and push it down. Again, I can see two ribs on this side, so then I'll go and look at the other side. I can see no ribs actually, so I'm going to push it that way just a little bit.

We'll just get kind of a preliminary alignment. Let's pull this up, and once you have it somewhat aligned. Again, take the cardboard off. If you have plastic bed rails and they hang down further than the metal of the bed, you'll want to trim them where you're going to put these on, because you want these to connect to the metal of the bed. So I'm going to put it in place and tighten it up preliminarily, I'm not going to go all the way tight yet. I want to just make sure and do some final alignment on the cover before I tighten it all the way up.

So now they're on there, but they're not fully tight yet. I'm going to pull the cover down one more time. And you see how the back sticks up? That's the way it's supposed to be. It just pulls tight when you put it down. But I want to check the corners and make sure I'm pretty equidistant. My edge is right out over the outside rib on this side, and same thing on this side. Then I'll pull it down and to lock, what you'll want to do is to adjust these by trial and error, turn the studs in a little bit, bring it down, need to be tighter. There you go. And we'll do the same thing for the other side.

Close that. All right. Check my alignment, it all looks good. The only thing I have to do now, bring it back up, unlock these, and again, as I said, you'll want to bring these back, pull it over, and lock it up like that, so that it folds flat. Same thing on the other side, lock it down so it folds flat. Then we can just tighten up these, and the installation's complete. With the front tightened up, unclip and just three folds, reach in under and over here, pull your lock down into place.
