step 1 :Removing the Tire
- Chock the wheel opposite the one being replaced
- Open the rear hatch
- Lift up the access panel
- Loosen the spare tire hold-down
- Pull out the spare tire
- Pull off the jack cover
- Loosen the thumbscrew from the jack
- Pull out the jack and tool kit
- Open the tool kit
- Pull out the tire iron
- Loosen the lug nuts with the tire iron
- Line up the jack with the frame pinch weld
- Raise the jack
- Remove the lug nuts by hand
- Pull off the wheel

step 2 :Installing the Spare Tire
- Put the spare tire into place
- Start the lug nuts by hand
- Lower the vehicle onto the tire with the jack
- Tighten the lug nuts with the tire iron
- If a torque wrench is available, tighten the lug nuts to 100 foot-pounds
- Lower the jack
- Put the jack and tools into the tool kit
- Put the tool kit into the tool kit compartment
- Fasten the thumbscrew for the jack
- Push on the jack cover
- Put the old tire into the hatch
- Close the hatch

Start by chocking the wheel on the opposite end inside of the tire you're replacing. In this case, we'll be doing the left rear, so we'll want to chock the right front. If the front of the vehicle is facing downhill, you'll place your wheel chock under the front. If the rear is facing downhill, you'll place it under the back. However, if you're not sure or you can get two pieces of wood or a large rock or something to chock the wheel with, it's best to have one on either side.
Open up the rear of your vehicle, lift up the access panel in the back, loosen the hold down and remove your spare tire. You'll see the little picture of your scissor jack here, so remove this cover, loosen the thumb screw in the center of the jack, remove the jack and tool kit vehicle, remove the Velcro straps securing the tools to the jack, remove your tire iron from the tool kit and loosen all five of your lug nuts about one turn. Once you've loosened the lug nuts on the spare tire, go ahead and start spinning up your jack, you use the tire iron for this as well. Be sure to line up the teeth on the jack with the pinch weld. Once you're on the pinch weld, lift the tire off the ground. Remove your lug nuts. They should be able to come off by hand at this point. Once the lugs are off, remove the wheel and tire from the vehicle.
Install your spare. Start all five lug nuts on as tight as you can by hand. Once you have the lugs on as tight as you can by hand, lower the jack until some of the weight of your vehicle is on your spare tire. Once you have the weight of the car back on the tire, get it as tight as you can with a tire iron. Now normally, these should be torqued to 100 foot pounds, but in an emergency situation, it's very unlikely you'll have a torque wrench with you, so just get it as tight as you can with this bar. Once you've got them tight, finish lowering your vehicle off of the jack. Put all of your emergency roadside tools back where you found them, and where this vehicle does not have a full-sized spare, we won't be able to put our old tire back underneath, so we'll just put it in the back of the car for now and drive to your mechanic or the nearest service professional.
