Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a mass air flow sensor on this 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. The items you need for this are a new mass air flow sensor from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver.

Your mass air flow sensor is located right here. You want to start off by loosening up this hose clamp. Back behind here, is a Phillips screw. You want to just go ahead and remove that. You want to just push this hose back and off of the top of your air intake box. Then, loosen up these two Phillips screws and then pull them up. They won't pull out, but you want to just have them pulled up. Pull this hose free, and then lift the top of your air intake box up and flip it over. You do have to position it around that intake hose. With it flipped over, you can access this harness better. Just stick in a flat blade screwdriver into the top slot and pry out. It will pull free. Then remove these two Phillips screws. Pull the mass air flow sensor free.

On the left is the old mass air flow sensor. On the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Take your new mass air flow sensor and push it into place, and replace those two Phillips screws. Reconnect the harness and then feed the top of your air intake box back down into place, making sure those tabs on the front go back into the slots from the air intake box. Once you have it in position, tighten up those two Phillip screws. Replace your hose clamp. Then, push the hose into place on your mass air flow sensor and tighten up the clamp. Just replace the Phillips screw that holds on the top of this air intake hose, and then reconnect this lower hose. You're all set.
