step 1 :Removing the Plate Light
- Remove the two Phillips screws from the plate light
- Disconnect the plate light wiring harness
- Push the bulb out

step 2 :Installing the Plate Light
- Push the new bulb in place
- Insert the plate light into place
- Connect the wiring harness
- Insert the two Phillips screws to the plate light

In this video, we are going to show you how to service as well as replace the plate light assembly on this 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. The only tools that you're going to need for this is a Phillips screwdriver and a flat blade screwdriver.
Start off by lifting up your trunk, and right here you want to remove these two Phillips screws. We'll fast-forward as Don does this. Now, just using a flat blade screwdriver, pry up the light, lift it up and then push the tabs on either side of the harness.
Pull it free and to service the bulb. You just push the bulb out and then you take your new bulb and you push it into the assembly.
Now reconnect your harness and push the plate light back into place. Just twist in those Phillips screws, and we'll fast-forward as Don does that.
