Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to install a tonneau cover on a Dodge Ram. This one's a 2008 1500. This particular tonneau cover will fit 2002 to 2008 Dodge Ram 1500s as well as 2003 to 2009 2500s and 3500s. All you need for this install is a new cover from 1AAuto.com and a Phillips screwdriver.

We've unboxed the hidden snap tonneau cover from 1AAuto.com. To give you an idea of what's going to come in here and how it's going to go together: we have the front and rear rails which will sit this way in the forward and rear position across the bed. We have the two side rails, which will sit here. We have cross braces that will sit along the side rails to keep tension on the leather, keep down the wind noise, and allow the weather to roll off of it and keep your cargo safe and secure. We have our hidden snap leather cover. You can see these style clips will snap right into our rails, without any kind of exposed metal or anything on the top, giving this a nice clean sleek look. Our hardware box comes with these end caps to connect our front and rear rails to the corresponding side rails. See that we have one fixed Phillips head screw to lock in and one thumb screw, making it easy to remove without using tools, and our aluminum clamps which allow us to secure the rails onto the top of the bed, without making any permanent modifications or alterations to the vehicle, meaning we can remove this and have the truck look just as it did, as if nothing had been installed. All of our rails come labeled. We have the front, the rear. The bows are marked on the ends. The two longest rails without markings are for the side. You can also tell from these notches where our cross braces will lock into place.

We'll take our front rail, which we'll set up at the headboard of the truck. We'll install our corner fixtures with the Phillips hardware facing into our fixed rail so we can unscrew these and remove the side rails or the front rail easily to make for more space in our bed. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver. Keep that nice and flush. Bring it down tight. This is only plastic on these end caps so you really just need to get it tight enough to put a little dent into the aluminum rail and keep it from moving. We'll repeat this step on the opposite side. We'll place our front bed rail up onto the top of the truck for now.

We'll lay our side rail onto the bed, slide it into place, and tighten down the thumbscrew. Do the same thing on the opposite side. We'll set up our rear bar the same way we set up the front, by installing our corner fixtures on the bench, sliding it into our side rails.

Line up the front and rear edges as you see fit. We chose to go tight to the inside edge of the headboard here. Your clamp will install with this channel, and will lock into the groove in our side rail. Tighten it up with the supplied Allen wrench. We'll leave that just a little loose for now so we can still make some fine adjustments if we need to. Repeat these steps on all four corners. You want to keep these clamps as even as you can with each other across the bed and evenly space them to the best of your ability.

Once you've centered your rails and lock them down into place go ahead and install the two center brackets, being sure to stay away from this notch and keeping them as close to the middle as you can.

To install the cross braces set them into the notch on the far side from you, bring them into the rail on an angle and lock them down into the notch on the opposite side. After your cross braces are installed you can install your final hold down.

Making sure to leave the longer part of the strap inside the cover and resting into the bed, snap in one corner of the cover. Lay the rest of it roughly across the frame. Lock down the other corner. They just snap into place. We'll start with our front two corners. Pull the slack out. These can be a little tight and difficult to install at first, but after they've been on there a while they'll stretch out, and become easier to take on and off. Once your corners are locked down, snap the rest of your clips into place on all the sides. Close your tailgate. Your cargo is now out of sight and safe from the elements.
