How to override the shift interlock on 2008 Subaru Outback.

step 1 :Overriding Shift Interlock
- Pry the trim door on the shift lock trim
- Press the brake pedal
- Press the tab in the opening with a screwdriver
- Move the shifter to neutral
- Move the shifter
- To return, press the tab in the opening with a screwdriver
- Press the brake pedal
- Move the shifter to Park position
- Press the trim door to the shift lock trim

If your battery has died and you can't shift the shifter out of gear or you need to move it, like in our case our battery is dead and it won't shift out of gear, there is a little cover right here. If you use a flat blade tool, you can pull the cover up. All right, and then you can take your screwdriver, push it down with your foot on the brake and then you can pull it up.
Stick it in neutral, and then you can move the car where you need to move it. Then to get it back you do the same thing. Push it down. Put it back in park. Then we're going to put the cover back on. There's a flat spot that goes facing the back of the vehicle. Just going to push it down.
