Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we show you how to fix the seat heater on this 2005 Cadillac CTS. The only items you're going to need for this repair are a small butt splice, a pair of pliers, and a pair of wire strippers.

Start off by reaching under the seat and pulling down and out on the fabric. This will release the clip. Carefully pull back your seat cover. Right here, you can see that this wire is broken. Typically when the seat heaters stop working, this is reason why. You want to take a razor blade and you want to just cut that plastic shield around the wire. You want to do this to both ends. Now take a pair of wire strippers and just strip off the end of that wire. Do the same to the other end.

Here we're holding the lower wire up with a pair of pliers. We put the splice on and then crimp it with a pair of wiring pliers. Twist the wire filaments to get them all together. It goes down into the splice easier. Make sure they're down in the splice and then again use the wiring pliers and crimp the splice. Once that's done, carefully put your seat cover back into place. Then tuck the cover in underneath the seat and reclip it. Then just test to make sure that your seat heater works again.
