How to Find Your Fuse Boxes on a 2007-14 Chevy Suburban

This procedure applies to model years 2007 through 2013. This is a Suburban, but this will work the same for Ford Tahoe, GMC Yukon, as well as the Yukon XL. There are three fuse boxes.

I'm going to open up the door. You will want to have your manual, because if you go to the index, it details the fuse boxes for you. So there's a fuse box under the hood in the engine compartment. So for right now, I'm going to just pull this to pop the hood, and we'll see that later.

The first fuse box we going to look at is right here on the side of the instrument panel. Pull that off just by pulling the bottom. These harnesses are a little bit in the way, but you can see there's a series of fuses. And if we look at our manual, we'll see that those fuses are for things like the rear seats, rear accessory power outlet, steering wheel controls, or the driver door module in the inside of the vehicle. And on this one, on the backside, if you don't have your manual, there's a pretty good diagram of each fuse’s location.

If you orient it just like the fuses, you can see on the fuses there's numbers printed, 1-5 and 2-0— those are the amperages. So 15, 10, 20, 30. These numbers correspond to both descriptions here and in your manual. For example, number 6, which is here, is your left hand stop and turn signal. It comes with a little fuse puller, right here. And I'll just show you, there's little grips for your fingers. You just push it on to a fuse, grasp the grip, and squeeze it. Then you pull the fuse out. And then, to put it back in, you just reverse that. Put it in, and then give it a little squeeze on the outside to release it, and pull it out. And then these go back on like that. This goes back in.

The next fuse box is underneath to the left side of the steering column. And it's right here. You can just pull firmly either on the side. This cover comes off. And there's a series of harnesses. This has an aftermarket harness here as well. And then there's a couple of fuses right in here that are all 25 amp fuses. It does have a diagram of circuit breakers: 1, 2, 3, and 4 and what those control. A little harder to see than what's in your manual though. And I'll put this cover back in for now. Basically, you just put it in to place, and press, and lock it. And your main under hood fuse box is right here. You should have to pull out and then up, and this cover comes off. And there's a whole series of fuses here. And again, referencing your manual, it'll tell you.

So here's the diagram that corresponds to this. So if we look at this fuse here specifically, 30 on the fuse means that it's a 30 amp fuse. In this diagram, it's actually number 34. So if you then go and cross reference number 34, you can see that that is the sunroof fuse. And if you really want to test it, you can have somebody work the sunroof, and there should be actually a little fuse puller here. Many times you can grab hold of them with your fingers, pull them out, and push them back in. Or use a small pair of pliers, just be careful not to break them. And you never want to stuff anything in to the fuse receptacle other than a fuse.

And actually for this fuse box as well, there is a diagram underneath this side of the gas engine. And if you had a truck that had a diesel engine, this is the diagram for the diesel. And put the cover back on. The longer side goes to the outside. You want to get it as close to going straight down as possible. And it should go down and lock on.
