How to Check your Fuses 2003-07 Cadillac CTS

In this video we're going to show you how to check and replace the fuses in your 2005 Cadillac CTS. This information should be the same from 2003 to 2007. The only items you're going to need can be found in the fuse box under the hood.

Open the hood and locate the fuse box on the passenger side at the front of the engine bay. Push in and release the three tabs that secure the cover on to the fuse box. You remove the fuse box cover and on the bottom side you'll see a diagram for our CTS. In our case, our cigarette lighter is not working, so we'll read through the list. We'll find the right fuse for it. See here, we have IP outlet, interior power outlet, and it's a 20 amp fuse on this side of a three prong slot.

Now, you can see we have our diagram going in the same direction as our fuse box. You have IP outlet, interior power outlet and a cluster of four relays with a stud. Here are our four relays and our stud. Two up from the left relays is our 20 amp. Right over here you'll find a pair of fuse pulling pliers. Go ahead and clamp those on to that 20 amp fuse and pull it out. You can see that the middle of the fuse has been blown out and the plastic casing is burnt.

Our diagram shows that we have spare fuses along the top edge here. One of them is 20 amp. Remove the 20 amp spare fuse. You could see we have a nice arc of steel in the center there. It's not blown out in the middle. There's no burn marks on it. I'll insert that where our old 20 amp fuse was. We'll put our fuse pulling pliers back. Reinstall the cover.
