In this video, we're going to be working with our 2011 Chevy Camaro 3.6 liter V6 and manual transmission. We're going to show you how to inspect and check the levels of all your under hood fluids. These are critical to ensuring the longevity and performance of all your vehicle's vital components. If you like this video, please click Subscribe. We have a ton more information on this and many other vehicles. And if you ever need parts for your car, you can follow the link down in the description over to 1AAuto.com. The only items you'll need for this repair are a flashlight and clean paper towel.
Your washer fluid reservoir is located just ahead of the air box on the front driver's side of the engine bay. To fill this we'll simply pop the cap open and fill it with your preferred washer fluid to capacity.
Your brake fluid reservoir is located against the driver's side firewall of the vehicle. You'll want to use a flashlight in the opening to get an idea of where the level is. It makes it a little easier to see. Ours is just below the max line and their fluid is a little dark but not terrible. You want it to be just about the color of green tea. If it's really dark or milky or brown color, or it has any type of particulates floating in it, you'll want to flush that fluid out. Now the only time you want to top off the brake fluid in a vehicle is after you've completed a brake service on all the disc brakes in it as this fluid fills the void behind the caliper piston as it comes out. Filling it with fluid in the caliper piston means that the next time you compress the calipers it could overfill. When you're done be sure to reinstall the cap.
Remove the oil dipstick which is right next to your battery jump post on the driver's side of the engine. Wipe it off completely and then fully reinstall it into the dipstick tube. Remove it again and check the level. Now these hash marks on the dipstick indicate one quart. You can see there's four marks there, so anything between here will show you actually down to the quarter of a quart, how much it would need to be filled if it was down. If it's below these hash marks add a full quart and check again.
Your oil fill cap is located here. This is where you'll want to top off your engine oil if it is a little low, or you can remove it, lift up and pull forward to remove your engine cover and locate your power steering reservoir. For this, you pull it out, wipe it off and the dipstick is actually on the cap here, so place it back in and remove it again. You'll want to go between these lines here. Ours is a little low so we'll top it off by refilling it right in the filler neck of the reservoir.
The radiator cap is actually remote located from the radiator, just next to your power steering reservoir. Make sure the vehicle is cold before opening this. If it's hot, you'll want to open it very slowly. Make sure that your fluid is right up top in the neck there and ours is. If it isn't you'll want to refill it there and then double check your reservoir to see if that needs to be topped off as well. When you're done checking these fluids reinstall your engine cover and your oil fill cap.
Now the coolant overflow on this vehicle is actually a little different. We have our cap here. You can see it says Dex-Cool on the passenger side just behind our fuse panel. We'll unscrew this cap and lift up and we have a coolant dipstick on it. Just like any other dipstick we'll wipe it clean, reinstall it fully, and remove it again. We have our full at temperature line here and our minimum line here. We're just about in the middle so we're just right where we want to be.
