    Transmission Fluid

Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.

What's up guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. Today, I'm going to show you how to check the transmission fluid in this 2008 Chevy Silverado with a 4.3 liter V6 engine. If you need parts for your vehicle, click the link in description and head over to 1aauto.com.

Over here, first you're going to take a rag. Over here on the passenger side there is a transmission dipstick. It's got a little lock on it. What you want to do is grab it and unlock it. You want to make sure the engine is running while you're doing this. For the sake of the video, I'm showing it to you with the engine not running. With the dipstick out, wipe the dipstick off, and you're going to want to check this while the engine is idling. Make sure it's on a level surface. There is a hot level and a cold level. After you wipe it off, reinsert the dipstick, pull it out and check it. Now, because our engines not running, it's a little higher than normal.

But if your engine was hot, like you just drove it, got it off the highway, been running it for over half an hour, you'd want it in that area. If you just started it and it was cold, you'd want it down here in the cold section.

If you had to top off any transmission fluid, you'd get a funnel. Use a funnel like this and slide it in there. Top off about half a quart at a time. Take it out and reinsert the dipstick. You want to make sure that goes all the way down. You can rotate it a little bit. It's all the way down and then we can lock it down.
