How to check the engine oil on 03 Volvo V70
Funnel
Engine Oil
Hi. I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.
Hi, everyone. Sue here at 1A Auto. And today I'm going to show you how to check the oil level on a '03 Volvo 2.4L non-turbo. So we're gonna open the hood. The hood latch location is on the driver's side, the left leg kick panel, you reach in there you'll feel a handle. See it? Just give it a pull. So the safety latch is located right here in the center, just pull up the tab and lift the hood open.
So the motor oil dipstick is clearly marked red plastic. It says motor right on it. Car is off, not running. I'm gonna pull that dipstick out, take a rag and wipe that clean. Now, the best time to check your oil is with the engine cold, like first thing in the morning, or if at least sat for at least two or three hours. And we'll pull it back out, and it is safe, in the safe zone, it's right in those Xs right there. So, with the clear, they don't have a high and a low on a Volvo, they just have the line here, a line there, with all these Xs in it. You want your oil level to be right in those Xs. Not too high, and obviously not too low. Oil Fill is the oil fill cap, is right here, it's right in the center of the engine valve cover. Just twist and turn it off. It says Engine Oil on it. Always check your maintenance manual, vehicle manual, to find out what type of oil your vehicle takes.
